The UFC 116 wagering main event looks on paper to be very compelling for MMA fight wagering supporters.
But it will likely be anything but compelling when the rubber hits the pavement and UFC wagering champ Brock Lesnar and Interim Champion Shane Carwin step into the Octagon.
Lesnar will wipe the mat with Carwin in sports betting and very likely earn a KO win against the mining engineer from Colorado. Carwin, while his track record in the run-up to this UFC 116 odds event might be impressive, is basically not in the same class as Lesnar as a fighter.
A great deal has been made of Lesnar’s earlier career as a performing circus clown in Vince McMahan’s traveling WWE circus. His believability as an MMA fighter has been significantly questioned since his UFC wagering debut and carries on to be all the way up this UFC 116 wagering matchup. But it is unfair, and insane, to compare what he’s doing now in the UFC Main Events to what he did in his artificial wrestling days.
Lesnar (4-1) has gotten better with every match and has shown remarkable progress as an MMA fighter during his brief career. He entered the UFC wagering as a potent but raw fighter and gradually his expertise and athleticism have been honed into a very impressive MMA wagering champ.

But nobody who’s ever fought against Carwin has seen the second round. Carwin secured the interim heavyweight title with his impressive win over Frank Mir in his last match at UFC 111. And you’d feel he’d have earned some regard with an undefeated track record of 12-0. But oddsmakers still consider him the underdog. Carwin himself has claimed that if he touches anyone with his hands, he can KO them. He’s fairly confident in his own expertise.
Carwin and Lesnar have several similarities and that may make the UFC 116 wagering matchup relatively intriguing, at least for a while, but Lesnar should have his way with Carwin and maybe even knock him out. Both are aggressive in their fighting strategies and are former wrestling champs.
The two were originally set to take on each other at UFC 106, before Shane Carwin won the interim heavyweight tournament, but Brock Lesnar pulled out of the match as a result of an illness that kept him from training.
UFC 116 odds bettors are likely to see a lot of striking and with these potent men that opens up a lot of possibilities for a KO. And Carwin is most probably going to be it if anyone is going to get Ko’d in this UFC wagering match.
