For the 1st time in the last 8 years, USC isn’t the NCAA football betting fave in the Pac-10.
That honor goes toward Oregon for the 2010 season. The Ducks are a minor fave to win the Pac-10 while USC is picked for second by those that bet on NCAA football.
It could be that the champ finishes with two conference losses since NCAA football betting on the Pac-10 will probably be quite competitive this season. The Pac-10 media poll picked Oregon over USC and that should be good news for the Ducks since the poll has picked the ultimate champion in 9 of the last 10 seasons. That stat is actually overrated though since USC has dominated this conference for more than a decade. Oregon is the squad that could take advantage now that dominance appears to be over now though.
The Pac-10 looks to be quite opened up at the internet sportsbook in 2010 as seven squads in the media poll got at least one 1st place vote. Oregon obtained 15 1st place votes and they were followed by USC with twelve. Oregon acquired 314 total points, just three ahead of USC who acquired 311. Oregon State was picked for 3rd and gained three 1st place votes. The top five was rounded out by Stanford and Arizona. Washington was picked for 6th and they were followed by California, UCLA, Arizona State and also Washington State. Solely the Sun Devils along with the Cougars were offered no chance to take the Pac-10 this season.
For those that bet on NCAA football, Oregon State could be the wild card in the conference. They are picked for 3rd even though they’re replacing their starting quarterback. Head coach Mike Riley feels that the offense is going to be quite good with Ryan Katz heading the team.
Their depth will probably be tested this season and for years to come, although USC may have the greatest quarterback in the conference in Matt Barkley. This year the Trojans include 71 scholarship competitors and that number is going to go down in future seasons because of NCAA sanctions. It’s unclear if they will be credited with the Pac-10 title if they finish at the top of the rankings since the Trojans are not going to be in a bowl game this season.
